Airbus Helicopters announces its new ADS-B Out Upgrade for Super Puma Family

The ADS-B Out installation is mandatory for all of license or permit to carry out commercial aviation in Brazil and Norway and will be mandatory in 2017 for all aircrafts with a maximum certified take-off mass exceeding 5 700 kg or having a maximum cruising true airspeed capability greater than 250 knots, operating flights referred to in Article 2(2), with an individual certificate of airworthiness first issued before 8 January 2015.

The ADS-B system is a cooperative surveillance technology for tracking aircrafts relying on 2 avionics components which are the GPS navigation source and the Transponder.

The system periodically broadcasts information about all operating aircrafts, such as identification, current position, attitude and velocity through an onboard transmitter.

The system also provides air traffic controllers with accurate and real-time position information.

The ADS-B Out installation is from now available in Airbus Helicopters Upgrades Catalogue.
